How do you answer the question about weather? ›

Answers such as “It's a sunny day” or “it's warm here today” or “Its cold outside” or “it's cold today” , “the weather is wet”, “it's raining” “”snowing” etc, or even “I haven't been outside so I don't know,” are all perfectly good answers. If you're in the same room, say I was just going to ask you the same thing .

Weather is the state of the atmosphere, including temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind, humidity, precipitation, and cloud cover.

The National Weather Service issued forecasts for sky condition, temperature, wind and precipitation on a routine basis. The terminology used in these forecasts is quite variable.

Some people have interpreted it to mean that it will rain 30% of the time, others that it will affect 30% of the area. If we think back to how the number is generated, using an ensemble, we see it isn't really either of those, but more like 30% of forecast simulations suggest it will rain.

Percentages help communicate the level of uncertainty in weather predictions. A high percentage indicates greater confidence, while a lower one suggests less certainty. Example: A 90% probability of rain means meteorologists are very confident rain will occur.

To predict the weather for a particular day, meteorologists first take a look at what weather occurred in the past 24 hours in a particular area, as well as what's happening right now. Most local weather is determined by location or the geographic conditions of the area.
